Rehabilitation Sailing Sessions

Residential rehabilitation centers, intensive out patient groups, VA and military rehabilitation, youth diversion and many more can benefit from getting groups out for a San Diego Bay sailing session. As a example session, the participants are challenged to Sail from the Coronado bridge to Point Loma. Under the direction of the captain and session instructor, participants learn that it takes team work, communication, trust of each other to sail through the bay. It is not simple as it might seem as the wind direction necessitates tacking the sailboat through several points of the wind. Participants trade responsibilities such as helmsperson, mainsail trimmer, jib trimmer and tactician.

One terminal objective of this type of training is to have each participant discover that a seemly simple task takes dedication and teamwork to achieve. In many ways like addiction recovery, it takes effort, dedication and teamwork.
